Advantages: Great layout and components inside are top notch
Disadvantages: Brand name does not get respect
Acer has always made great computers. I got my first back in 1993. Obviously not a laptop but an old 486 DX2-66 with a whopping 4MB of memory. I see people at major stores asking "who is Acer?" Which is kind of sad because they really have made great computers since they started. Just like anything else, when a good company makes something good they are at risk from bigger companies like HP and Dell to come along and take over the market.
This particular laptop is a true Acer, it is tough, well laid out, and all the inside components are top notch. In keeping with tradition, Acer makes this laptop very easy to upgrade and modify. The only other laptop that comes close is the Sony VAIO which can be upgraded in about 2 minutes.
Please don't let the name scare you off because this is not a new company and if anything they use much better components inside.

- 03/02/09 I would much more have preferred to have read more about your actual experiences of using this machine rather than a list of features, which I can easily get from the manufacturer's website. |

- 03/02/09 Seems like most of the review is taken up with the spec, which less tecnically savvy minded people will be confused about. |
