Good laptop but too many useless gadgets (Acer Aspire 6930G)
Member Name: Catherine89
Advantages: Fast processor, lovely clear screen for dvds Disadvantages: Gadgets such as fingerprint scanner and 'virtual surround sound' aren't really necessary The version I have of this Acer 6930 comes with a lot of fancy gadgets, which probably accounts for its relatively high price, in comparision with other Dell models of a similar spec. It has a finger print recognition system, that means when you log on, you have the option of using your fingerprint instead of a password. You can also store passwords for websites on it, and when you need them, instead of writing them in, a scan of your fingerprint will automatically put it in for you. This fingerprint gadget would be useful if you had some highly confidential documents on your computer, but in my opinion it is pretty much useless when it comes to general home use. The scanner is located between the left and right mouse buttons, which means that often your finger print will accidentally glide past the scanner, causing your computer do do some strange things (for instance start up a particular programme, or sometimes, act as a back button on your browser!). It also sometimes requires several attempts to recognise your finger print when you sign in, which means it takes longer than just typing in your password! Summary: Fun to play about with, but perhaps a little over priced
