This is an excellent multimedia laptop, the 18.4" screen is vibrant and the unusual 5.1 surround sound speaker system booms out unlike any other laptop I have heard. Processor power, onboard memory and graphics card are all up to coping with the demands of most modern PC games as well. This laptop will run most applications with ease. The built in TV card and Blu-Ray player add to the multimedia experience. This is a bit on the bulky side however as a portable notebook, it will be heavy to lug around assuming you can find a laptop bag or case big enough so is more suited to a role as a desktop replacement. Downsides include the Cinedash touchpad for launching media applications, this certainly looks very smart and stylish but the volume is very hard to change either going too high or low or failing to recognise you want to change it at all, this is nothing drastic, just annoying. Also the built in Avermedia TV card has a thin pin type adapter to convert the standard RF aerial to fit which breaks easily if you are not carefull. Another failing is the remote control and something common to all Acer laptops is the pathetic range, you are lucky if it will work within 2 feet, any further away and nothing, something that Acer technical support seem to know about but are reluctant to admit is a failing. Another thing I have found with mine is the pads where you rest your hands either side of the track pad get creaky over time, at first nipping up the screws helps but eventually it creaks at the seam between the top and bottom casing all the time if you rest your hands on them. You also get a lot of unneccesary bundled software which you have to remove manually, many programs do the same job and only serve to slow things down so a bit of program pruning is required at first and after every factory reset. And my final annoyance is the fingerprint bio protecton recognition which worked fine at first but as time went on began to reject my fingerprints more and more not only at the recognition stage but eventually at the programming them in stage as well, I ended up having to uninstall mine as it became unuseable. Despite these niggles I would recommend this laptop as it is a very competant machine with a lot of unique features, battery life is nothing like the claimed 2.5 hours but this is to be expected from such a powerfull high end laptop.
