I have owned this laptop for just over 4 years and i am still very happy with it. I was lucky at the time because i was given a free Windows 7 upgrade disc when i bought the laptop which currently runs on Windows Vista. The laptops operating system is an Intel core 2 solo processor. The main thing that attracts me to this laptop is the lightness and slimness of the laptop. The laptop has a big 16:9 HD LED LCD screen which is very nice. The laptop has a big internal memory which is 320 GB and a 4 GB ram. I have had no problems with running out of memory space on the laptop. The laptop also has a useful function which backs up files. Another key feature about this laptop is the battery life it claims that it can last up to eight hours but when using most functions it lasts around six which is very good for a laptop. There are power saving functions such as adjusting the screens brightness and switching off wifi which can save a lot of battery. The laptop includes 4 USB ports and a port for a HDMI cable which is extremely useful. The laptop also includes a CD / DVD drive which can be used to watch dvd's and burn/play Cd's. The keyboard is very nice to use the only downside is that there is no way of knowing if caps lock is on but this is a minor issue. I have had no problems with this laptop and it has lasted a long time.
The acer timeline range are fantastically light and slim, and of a much better build quality than acers usual offerings.
The battery life exceeds 8 hours if used in balanced or power saving mode, however, using these functions does slow it down considerably.
The 15.6 inch screen and full keyboard are huge, but being less than 1in thick it is easy to transport in a backpack. The screen is bright and clear and great for watching movies on, however the sound lets the timeline down as it is very quiet, to the point of being almost inaudible with any background noise. The included dvd software is not of great quality, but this is easily fixable. The generous keyboard is comfortable to use but the design provides no protection from dust or dirt meaning that the space under and between the keys attracts everything.
The graspable touchpad is a fun feature, and great for zooming in and out of webpages and photos, however it is not particularly responsive and should probably be considered a bonus rather than a selling feature.
Overall a great laptop; for battery life and weight, the key features for which it was marketed it is incredible, very quick when in full power mode, but considerably slower when off the power cable. For anything that requires audio- invest in some extra speakers.
