Given to me as a present a few years back, at first i thought it was a neat bit of kit. Installed with Windows Vista when i got it, this laptop did most of the things i wanted it too. Had a good screen for browsing the web, writing word documents etc, though it could not handle games at all.
The 80GB hard drive, of which 32 is taken up by Windows stuff, is a rubbish space availability and i had filled it up within a few months, only with a small amount of music + pictures.
The speakers on this laptop give appaling sound quality, so headphones are a must.
The keyboard is some specially designed one for ease of typing, and to be fair it is very nice and easy to type long essays onto.
The battery life on this laptop is virtually non-existant, i was lucky if i ever got 40 minutes out of it!
I would recommend this laptop to parents looking to buy their children a first laptop. Despite the bad things about it, it is fine at performing tasks that children would need it to. Somewhere to do their homework on, research, and store some music. Though it has a slow processor, low memory capabilites and a small hard drive, they wont know any better until they upgrade to a better model as i have done now.
1) Who is worth to buy it: You have some economic problem this days, you don't play complex PC game such as WOW, you don't download two much from web, you don't want to update your XP to vista and you want a large wide screen laptop for not much money. (if you are the person state above, then go on)
2) Overall: As a cheap laptop, Acer Extensa works well. You can use it to fulfill your every day works, like documents, email, slide shows, and enjoy some movies and musics in your spare time. But if you want to ask more, it may not satisfy you, cause it is out-of-date feature is quite behind other laptop.
3)Advantage: Price alone it is unbeatable, but other feature is weak.
4) Disadvantage: Samll harddisk and memory. Internal graphic card and low CPU speed.
5)My advice: so I stated in 1), if you have some money trouble now and need to buy a laptop very quickly, this is your first choice. Otherwise you need to sort to other laptop.
The Extensa 5220 Value series from Acer is well balanced to optimize your productivity and amplify your success. Powered with an Intel Celeron M processor, it features a large 15.4" CrystalBrite widescreen display and integrated Acer CyrstalEye webcam.
