Advantages: Nice middle range machine

Disadvantages: low battery life

The Acer TravelMate is a dual-core performance machine with Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology that includes a processor that is optimised for multi-threaded applications and multitasking. So for those who like tosimultaneously run multiple demanding applications then this machine should hold up to task. The 80 GB hard drive offers plenty of storage capacity for a notebook Abundant memory of 1 GB of RAM (2 GB max) and a 1.67 GHz Intel Core Duo T2300 with 2 MB L2 cache boosts the performance of application programs. I have used or had open 5 programs at the same time (photoshop 6.0, Word, Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Excel) and the performance holds up pretty well.

The lap top also includes an integrated dual-layer/multi-format DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) so you can read and write on most DVDs. You can also listen to music and watch DVDs of course. The package comes with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (128 MB of shared RAM) - this along with the impressive memory enables the user to play high end graphics-intensive games.

I've not had this machine very long but so far I don't really have many complaints apart from the battery life. Perhaps the speakers and sound system could be a bit better but I really wasn't expecting much sound quality from a lap top. If you're looking for a middle of the road machine with a bit more memory capacity then the lower end of the market then I would certainly recommend this product.

510T is my old back-up laptop which i bought (second hand) in Australia. It is working (especially the CD player where you could play without opening the computer); but the downside is the battery and the cover (it crack at the base of the screen). I dont have problem for possible repair when I was in Australia coz my friend works in ACER. Im using now SONY VAIO TX2P.
