I wanted something to replace my desktop so after reading spec. on Acer website I thought this would be ideal. Before you read any further I am no computer wiz, I only know what I like and what I can actually manage to work. It did though take me about ten days on and off of research into laptops, I am quite good at that. I came to the conclusion that large Japanese companies, such as Sony, Toshiba charge around £400.00 straight off just to have their name in your house. Check out equivalent models from them if you think me wrong. Super sharp screen, 2gig memory, 160 gig hard drive, stunning ATI Radeon graphics card. You will get nowhere near spec. for the £650.00 you pay ...

a premium for the name. The specifications of the Acer were head and shoulders above anything else in the price range. It had the latest Intel processor, an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz. The processor (or CPU - Central Processing Unit) is the part that does all the calculations, it s the brains of the computer so to speak. The better the processor the faster the machine will be. It comes with 1GB of RAM (Random Access Memory). This is the computers short term memory for the processor. I have heard that 256 MB of RAM is needed just to run Windows, so the minimum RAM you should aim to have is 512MB, and the more you have the quicker your machine will be able to do ...
Acer Travelmate 200DX

Rating:
I bought my Acer Travelmate 200DX from Dixons about a month ago now. I got £60 knocked off the price through bartering (Always worth trying in shops like this). The Computer has an Intel Celeron 55 Mhz processor, a dissapointing 32Meg Ram, Floppy and Cd Drives, and a 5Gig Hard drive. The machine itself seems fairly fast, although I was hoping it would be faster. It is a good size, easy to carry about, and has an adequate battery life. The display is excellent, and the machine comes with windows Millenium installed (But vitually nothing else). The lack of software didnt bother me as I have plenty on my other machine. This lap top has everything that a desktop has, and I ...
