Advantages: Cheap, portably, Fairly leight weight
Disadvantages: Poor RAM, Poor Processor, Small HDD capacity.
The HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is 250GB when its EMPTY. The acuall space you get is around 40-50GB less due to the partition and the way the the operating system has been installed. 250GB is a very small HDD these days wher standard cheap laptops come with 500GB as standard. Obviously Acer will not backtrack on their production and leave people to figure it out themselves. Sadly. The laptop itself is working well, but for running Windows 7 it could use a better processor. A Dual-core is just not enough these days. Neither is 2GB of RAM (Random Acess Memory) as when im running windows 7 in 1080p Full HD on my Desktop PC with my firewall and anti-virus my system sits idle using around 1.4GB of RAM. Almost 75% of this machines RAM. If anything this should have Windows XP installed.
This laptop is good if you're looking for a first time buy for a small child instead of a £1000 gaming laptop or something daft. There are better laptops out there for £400-£500 but this is the budget of the budget. Sadly the monitor can only reach upto 720p HD and this is most likely due to the intergrated graphics card, for which i cant find how much dedicated memory it has.
So far, my brother has had no issues with it apart from the usual gripes of not knowing where to look for stuff in the windows menus.
Battery life, says my brother, tends to be on the top side of 3.5 hours, sometimes reaching 4 hours when just word processing. Not as good as some other laptops that reach 6 hours but its enough for a journey and it saves weight.
Summary: Budget. Plain and simple, its a first timers laptop ideal for someone around 13-14 years old.
