What a flaw this machine is. Acer have tried to win over consumers by adding on all the extra specs and to begin with it won my husband over so we purchased one on 15/10/2008 but by 21/10/08 it was returned to the store faulty with a MAJOR boot problem where apparantly is a common fault with Acer machines. What happened to the we purchased was when leaving the notebook rest for a while and coming to run the machine again all that would load was a a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner and then nothing more would happen. I recently purchased this from the Acer website with the extended warrenty. It came on time and the service was perfect. The computer is easily compatible with windows vista and runs smoothly, however on idle, vista uses around 46% of the RAM. This makes no difference when using microsoft word, etc, however when playing games it really has an effect. Also it seems to suffer from the atikmag problem which affects the video card. The atikmag file failes on occasion causing the whole computer to shut down, there is no know fix as yet. What made this laptop so appealing to me was the chance of owning one of the fairly recently distributed Intel Core 2 Duo processors and Windows Vista operating system (now pre-installed on Acer Aspire models) at a fraction of the cost of rival competitors.
