Acer Aspire 6930G

I frequent and found that the best value-for-money tends to be spending between £400 and £500, so with £500 as my upper limit, I went on the hunt. The Acer 6930G was the best specced laptop I could find at under £500. I sought out opinions from other Acer owners and the response was stacked well in their favour for being reliable, sturdy machines. With that in mind, I had no qualms about handing over £480 to Amazon. Initial set up can take some time, especially if, like me, you want to uninstall all the usual guff that manufacturers insist on supplying you with. If you have access to another PC, I d recommend downloading all the software you require and burning it to a ...

DON'T BUY IT! (211 words)by jono - written on 23/04/09

acerdirect.co.uk, because the spec looked fantastic, too good to be true, especially for £500. I also bought the 3 year insurace which was a further £100. (I went for an Acer because this was the make of my previous laptop, which ran smoothly for 6 years, up until the day it died.)When I got it, things started to go badly wrong. First it was the subwoofer which kept crackling. This was really annoying, because i am really into my music, and was one of the reasons i bought it in the first place. then the media keys gave up on me. i would press play, and the volume would go up, and vice versa. then the fingerprint scanner was getting less and less responsive. Finally, the ...

What a flaw this machine is. Acer have tried to win over consumers by adding on all the extra specs and to begin with it won my husband over so we purchased one on 15/10/2008 but by 21/10/08 it was returned to the store faulty with a MAJOR boot problem where apparantly is a common fault with Acer machines. What happened to the we purchased was when leaving the notebook rest for a while and coming to run the machine again all that would load was a a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner and then nothing more would happen. Also a man had a similar problem where only the acer screen would load and nothing more. It appears that acer need to adddress ...
