I bought this computer on the internet from a reputable UK based company who I have used before. I was working in Kenya at the time so asked for it to be delivered there, which it was quite promptly. However, when I got it out of it's box and plugged it all in the screen was all blocky. Then, after only 10 minutes of use the screen packed in completely! I was extremely saddened. I phoned the company and, as I was fortunately due back in the UK in 3 weeks time, they offered a replacement. The replacement I received and I haven't had any further problems. Never had an AMD process before, and will avoid them all together. Another downside, is the bloat-ware that is loaded by Acer . The power management software loaded is a bit temperamental. Why they do this is beyond me. Leave Windows handle the power management and do not re-invent the ...

Eventually I settled in the A Acer Travelmate 8204WLMi, and this is why. Firstly, the TravelMate was not a cheap machine. At just over £1,700 pounds it was definitely top-of-the-range, in spec and in price. It was a price I was prepared to pay for a machine that was hopefully going to deliver top performance for more than just a couple of years.
