Advantages: Plenty of spec, fast, plenty of RAM and HDD Space, good build quality

Disadvantages: Very sensitive touch pad

My girlfriend bought this laptop frmo Currys for £430 as her old one was on it's last legs.

It has a dual core processor running at 1.83ghz, 4Gb of ram, a monster 320Gb hard drive, built in web cam, card readers for memory cards and DVD/CD burner. There is no dedicated graphics card, but that isn't a problem as my girlfriend isn't much of a gamer.

Software bundled is Microsoft Works, Power2 Go (for burning CD's and DVD's), a 60 day Office trial and a couple of other bits from The Techguys. It didn't come with an AV but I installed AVG Free, and also Open Office.

The laptop comes pre-installed with Windows Vista and fires up quite quickly, which is always a good thing! The quality of the web cam is excellent (it's 1.3mp if I remember correctly) although at first it didn't work with MSN. after a couple of emails from the support people I unistalled and re-installed the drivers and it worked.

Burning CD's and DVD's is very quick and easy using the Power2 Go software. The only gripe I have is that the touch senstive pad is a little too sensitive, and if you tap it twice it doubles up like a mouse so you often find yourself opening/closing things that you didn't want to do.

The build quality is very solid and the screen is crystal clear. Power comsumption seems pretty good too, there are 3 standard settings for power saving, and these can be amended to increase battery life. Obviously if you have everything on full whack it drains the battery quite quick.

Overall I would say that this is a cracking laptop for the money. If you purchase a graphics card seperately then you'd have yourself a very nice gaming laptop. Even for day to day use it's top notch and gives you plenty of storage and great performance.

Summary: Fantastic laptop at a very good price
