Advantages: High Spec, Low Price
Disadvantages: Small private company owned by indian family, Cheap computers with cheap parts, Terrible after sales support
We bought 6 laptop computers from AJP just over a year ago. We were attracted by the low prices, high specifications and the relatively good reviews the company had received in What Lap top magazine. The problems however began immediately, with one laptop being sent back within 2 days of purchase for a faulty screen. We soon realised that AJP do not actually manufacture their computers but import them from the far east and then stick AJP labels on them to give the impression they manufacture their own brand laptops. The truth is, their laptops are bough for less than half the price they sell them for, and from their own admission, many of the internal parts fail within a year. We have had to scrap three of the 6 laptops we bought from AJP and it has not even been 16 months since we bought them. My own laptop has broken down more than 5 times, and every time I returned to AJP to give in my computer for repair, I would always meet another extremely dissatisfied customer, fed up with the number of problems their AJP notebook had given them Anyone intending to buy a laptop from AJP should know that although AJP will be happy to quickly repair laptops that go wrong the 6 or 7 times within the first year of purchase, but they will be also be happy to leave you in the limbo if the laptop fails after the first year of purchase. In my case AJP even admitted that the fault they had diagnosed in my machine was the direct result of a faulty part, but they wanted to charge me the price of a replacement laptop to repair it. When I threatened to sue them, they maliciously damaged the motherboard rendering the laptop beyond economic repair. My advice to any potential AJP customer- you would be better of buying your laptop from AJP's supplier in the far east. You would stand more of a chance of some courtesy and assistance in the event of your laptop failing even though you will be buying the same piece of junk, here or there.

- 03/07/02 Hello and welcome to dooyoo! :)
Sorry for the low rating but you don't say that you are actually talking about that particular model and you don't really tell us any of the faults you encountered. Also whilst yes it is your warning about this company based on your experience the opinion reads more like a complaint than a review. |

You might want to rephrase the disadvantage: "Small private company owned by indian family", as some might read it as racist. That apart, though, this is a salutary warning. |
