Apple iBook G4 CombodriveFor a laptop, the inside of a backpack presents a jarring environment filled with shifts, bounces and the occasional bump. That's why Apple engineers designed the iBook G4 from inside out to stand up to the rigors of your strenuous life. Made from ultratough polycarbonate plastic - the same high-grade material used in bulletproof glass - the iBook's sleek white case resists impact. And inside, a sturdy magnesium frame provides superior strength, while reducing the weight of the iBook G4 to well below that of other full-featured PC notebooks. Rubber mounted and equipped with Sudden Motion Sensor technology that helps protect your data in the event of a drop or fall, the iBook's hard disk drive lets you store all of your digital goodies and still enjoy peace of mind. What's more, the iBook has no I/O doors or protruding elements - and no optical drive tray, either - to break or snap off when tucked into a backpack or briefcase. I've had this lovely little computer for over four years and although I've toyed with the idea of buying one of the new Intel based Macbooks I just don't have any reason to do so as everything I need to do is taken care of by this machine. One of the best reasons to buy a Mac is the ...

I've never owned a Mac before this little laptop. I have a windows desktop and a windows laptop but given just how pretty this little laptop is, it didn't take an awful lot of persuasion. I've never regretted that decision in the year plus since I've owned it. I'm not a hardware techie type - so I can only give you a lay-person's impression of the machine. It's a wonderful little computer! I should say that when I'm not using it for testing my work it spends most of it's time in the living room where I sit on the sofa and surf the internet. I had previously used the windows laptop for this and spent a good deal of my time getting up, rebooting ...
