Apple iBook Indigo ... up to the occasional bumps and other unexpected mishaps of life on the go. From the standpoint of a laptop, the inside of a backpack can be a fairly inhospitable place. And yet you shouldn't have to walk softly just because you're carrying the most appealing notebook ever.

So Apple made the iBook's sleek case out of impact-resistant polycarbonate plastic. That would ordinarily be sufficient to survive the rigorous of everyday use and abuse, but Apple didn't stop there. Inside, a sturdy magnesium frame provides superior strength, while reducing the iBook's weight to well below that of other full-featured PC notebooks. Apple even rubber-mounted the hard disk drive for added bump tolerance, so you can store all of your digital goodies on your iBook and still enjoy peace of mind. Additionally, the iBook has no I/O doors, protruding latches or levers to break or snap off when tucking it into a backpack or briefcase.

I have a 12" iBook with the 1.33GH processor. i ve had it for 6 months now and the outside is still pristine white. looks-wise it is gorgeous! because i ve always been a microsoft user, i had to get some getting used to with apple mac, but shifting is pretty easy and i don t regret going for apple. i use mine for school, to store pictures, and music, for internet chatting and skyping. i love it because it is small and portable. it s very light and sturdy. it has an antishock device so if you accidentally drop it, it protects your files. it also has a built-in mic and speaker which both work really well. it has wi-fi and bluetooth and 2 usb ports, a firewire, a lan ...

Apple iBook G4

Premium Review The (underpowered) quality laptop (341 words)
by failme - written on 24/10/04 (Useful, 658 readings)
Rating:

I chose an iBook because I found the quality of the PC laptops equivalents somewhat lacking. I didn t want to spend several hundred pounds on something that was just going to break in a couple of years. This is my first Mac and my first laptop but it took nothing to become used to, just a few minutes - I was expecting difficulties given my past 5 years of using the (godawful) Windows operating system (OS). Mac OS X isn t flawless but it s certainly a lot better than Windows. Despite the low power (1ghz) and stingy memory (256mb) it doesn t often struggle, I guess it s because it isn t as loaded with crap as Windows often is. For £799 the power is mediocre considering you ...

Well Apple are lovely aren t they but unfortunately their stuff still doesn t work properly on the internet. This laptop is another one of those products which looks nice and is pretty good for professional design work but the limitations of the platform outweigh the benefits. Any decent pc can do what a mac does these days, ...
