Advantages: Good graphics, eyecatching design, easy to use.

Disadvantages: Not so good for gamers, much more expensive than other laptops.

Although MacBook's are mostly used by graphic designers and art students, they are brilliant computers and have a much simpler interface for computer novices. The graphics are stunning, much better designed than on Windows. The Macbook itself is beautiful, fairly thin but weighty enough to feel expensive and know its there! I also love the way the desktop can be kept clean of icons and with the new features (such as Exposé) you can display it with a flick of the mouse, something I dearly miss on my work computer! I absolutely love my Mac and the ease of use it provides, making working on multiple documents much simpler; even tasks such as pasting text or creating web bookmarks is quicker and speeds everything up.

The main downside of the MacBook is the price; that and the cost of the software specifically for the Mac can make it cost more than double that of a similar spec Windows laptop. However, the Mac has the benefit of having less viruses than Windows machines, making it less complicated and cheaper in the long run, as you dont have to buy anti-virus software. Another downside is the beautiful outer case of the Mac becomes easily scratched after daily use, much like that on Ipods.

If your considering buying a Macbook for work or study, I would say go for it, its a great machine. If, however, its for playing games or purely fun, it works out much more expensive than normal laptops as you get less spec for your money and games come out later than PC ones.

Summary: Good laptop for beginners or those moving from Windows.
