Advantages: visually pleasing,fast,great battery,easy

Disadvantages: crack on keyboard(please read,minor)

This is the 2nd mac ive had,the first being the ibook g4. When i purchased this new one i didint expect there to be too much difference between them,i just wanted to keep up with advancing technology.

How wrong i was,this new macbook is completely different,the first thing i noticed was the weight,its so much lighter than any other notebook of this size,which adds to the portability side of things,and to boost with that its far thinner.

The battery life on this new mac far proceeds the old version,im a designer and use battery zapping programs and on a good run i can still get around 4 and a half hours out of it.Or to put it another way,i watched transformers the movie on here,and by the time it finished i still had 50 something percent of my battery left,impressive. Charge time for the battery is also much improved,from flat to full your looking at around 3hours whilst in use,2 hours while left alone.

The intergarted web cam was a new feature for this mac,and i think one of the best new features.Ive used it far more than i expected to,probably because its always there and theres no messing about you just turn it on and your ready to use it.I was really surprised at the quality of the cam,when its picking up moving image theres hardly any delay which is a rarity in cameras at the moment.

As with all mac operating systems this one is as flawless as ever,its simple to use,it looks brilliant and everything just runs so smoothly,ive yet to have any hickups with any of it,touch wood:)

One thing thats included in the box that i loved was the mac remote.Its basically a small remote that allows you to change song,change movie and flick thru photos without beingn anywhere near your mac,quite a handy little gadget.

The mac itself is pretty durable,its made from lovely white plastic so its pretty light,and the keys and such are all hard wearing and havnt faded,even after all the finger abuse ive given them.The power cord itself is one of the cleverest things about this new release,its magnetised,this means if anyone trips over the cable your lovely mac doesnt follow it,it simply unconnects itself,genius.

The only down side to this mac is the keyboard surround.See the mac shuts by magnets,and remains shut using their own pulling power,however this pulling power is seemingly too strong for the keyboard panel to cope with and after 7months mine cracked a little,nothing major,just a hairline crack from the closing system. Now i looked into this and it is quite a common fault,but if you know about it from the start and be more careful when closing your mac,this should increase its longevity.

Overall a great mac,and one thats worth every last penny
