Advantages: Well designed, runs smoothly, has multi-touch trackpad, intuitive OS.

Disadvantages: Processor should be more powerful for the price, expensive.

I received this for Christmas and I am still besotted with it, and its performance is still amazing. Had I not begun a course and graphic design course and been shown how easy Macs are to use, I probably would never had this great urge to get this macbook.

The price may seem extortionate to some people, but you really do get what you pay for. The price buys you a macbook that has been designed with great attention to detail, from the unibody exterior to the little sleep indicator light that pulsates when your macbook is sleeping. You also get great support from Apple, and for 2 years longer if you choose to purchase AppleCare with it.

Obviously if you're going to be doing video editing or more professional work and need a larger screen and better graphics card then the Macbook Pro would be a more suitable choice. I use it for my graphics work and Adobe CS4 runs great on this, as well as any other programs really, such as Microsoft Office.

The most wonderful feature of this has to be the trackpad! Two finger strokes mean you can scroll up and down easily, three finger swipes left and right can be used to scroll through photos in iPhoto or to go backwards and forwards on webpages and so much more :)

The installation was so simple too. I just turned it on and after about 5 minutes I was set to start doing what I want. The Mac OS is just as simple, for first time Mac users you'll get used to the new OS and wonder how you ever did without it.

It comes with iPhoto for keeping your photos all organized, Photobooth for making use of the built-in iSight camera by taking silly pictures, iMovie for movie making projects, iChat for IM'ing those who also use Macs or have AIM screen names and loads more.

The built in Airport picks up your router really easily, so you can be on the internet in seconds. It also has bluetooth, which I haven't really used. The battery can last a good 4 or 5 hours, or 3 hours when running more graphic intense programs such as CS4.

The one problem I have is that for the money you pay, it should offer more than a 2.0ghz processor. But the DDR3 RAM means it definitely doesn't lack speed.

Basically, if you have almost a grand to spend on a laptop and want something that looks good and performs well, then this would be a great choice. Great for students, as its portable, stylish and performs well.

Summary: Another great laptop from Apple that stands out from PC laptops, even those in the same price range.
