I purchased on of these just the other day, and not through one of my normal channels. Instead of brand new, for the first time ever I bought through the Apple UK refurbished store. I got it for £799, so a £130 saving...

The only difference is it came in a plain white box, rather than a printed one. Everything in the box was brand new and sealed. The laptop is likely to be a custom return, or even a canceled order. I think mine was a return, as it had a tiny tiny mark on the edge of the lid, you had to hold it up to the light to see it. I was well pleased though.

I was started up and on the internet in under ten minutes. Another bonus was that this has the latest iLife 09 software suite on it. The screen is awesome, very bright and evenly lit. Battery life is equally impressive, with me getting around 5 hours between charges when just surfing and doing email and about 4 hours if watching some videos in the mix. The whole system is very quiet, runs nice and cool. The 160GB hard drive is plenty big enough for my use, mainly emails, web, and a few photo related tasks.

The only change I am going to make is spending £50 on some extra memory. I always do this with computers as it allows them to work at their best.

Can I recommend the MacBook... a definite yes.
