I got one these beauty's through a swap site, i offered my old Acer laptop and £300 and it was mine! since then i'm never NEVER going back to owning a PC/Windows, its been so much easier to use a Apple than a PC, everything works perfectly ive never had to add any anti-virus software or ever had any virus for that matter.
Although people complain of the compatibility regarding software and hardware i do believe its people own opinion of what they wont there computer for. For example owning a Mac would be ideal for people interested in Music and graphics/design owning a PC would be for more of the business side of things but this is just my opinion. But now Macs do have a lot of the same software that Pc's use for office work.
My current spec of my macbook is:-
Mac OS X Snow Leopard
2.1Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Those are the standard specs with the usual extras including wi-fi, bluetooth, webcam, USB ports etc.
The original sec was 1GB but i upgraded it to 2GB and it does make a huge difference, everything loads quicker and faster like you'd expect but it also improves the speed of multi-tasking which is something i use alot.
I've also used up over 140gb of my HDD but still from pressing the power button to turn on its loaded up and ready to use within 30 seconds which from previous experience with PC's that's ultra fast.
The graphics card is a shared GF 9400M, from a gamers point of view its not at all brilliant but for what i use it for it does the job nicely, as im aware most recent games will run on the macbook such as the sims 3 without any problems but if you want to upgrade expect to pay a hefty price tag from the Apple website.
If you are wondering whether to switch from PC to MAC i would recommend reading help guides online to see if you should swap or not, this is a great page to see whether you should switch or not showing you what current computers are available, how to use the operating system and other useful bits of information to help you decide:-
From my point of view im not going back to PC, Macs are visually nicer from the outside to the operating system and run 10x times better.
The MacBook uses a graphics processor that economizes space in a whole new way. A traditional computer logic board contains multiple components: the CPU, two chips that control communication throughout the computer, and the graphics processor. The logic board in the MacBook contains only two components: the CPU and a graphics processor with all of the core logic built into a single chip.
Open your MacBook and you're instantly greeted by glorious full screen brightness. Anything you view, including the glossy widescreen display itself, is a spectacular experience. The LED-backlit display is more power efficient. And it's mercury- and arsenic-free, so it's greener than ever.
