      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Few minor problems, generally excellent laptop, everything I needed and more.

I was initially bought this laptop around three years ago when I started university as my desktop was about to die and it seemed a laptop would be best. As a student I wanted something with a fairly big memory as I use it to store photos, music, TV downloads and university work and I wanted something with a decent sized screen as it was used as a television. This laptop met all those needs. It has not once come close to being full, though for a while I even stored films on it. The display is excellent, as is the sound quality, perfect for the more multimedia usage I had in mind. The aluminium casing has made it fairly drop-proof, and I am ashamed to admit, it has been tested a few times, with, as far as I can tell, no internal damage, just minor dents. The inbuilt camera is of an excellent quality and I have extensively used it as a webcam while abroad and had no problems. The magsafe power cable was an excellent addition which has saved the laptop on many occasions and does tend to just break the connection if any force is applied, but it has never done this unnecessarily.

The functionality of the track pad is again excellent, the scroll function, zoom in and out all relating to different finger motions on the pad.

I would say the main problems I have had with this laptop were a battery that did wear down too quickly with heavy usage, and little use of the mains power, however, with Apple Care they were very helpful and replaced it as it had run down too quickly.
I would also say that the aluminium body and its size, while making it excellent for the wide range of functions for which I have used it, it does also make it quite heavy comparatively. I would not recommend it if, for example, it was going to be carried long distances daily, especially in comparison to the newer Macbook Airs. But, as a generally stationary laptop, I have found it extremely useful, worthy of the price it is now retailing at (which is more reasonable than it started out as) and a joy to use.

The Intel Core Duo chip inside MacBook Pro gives you the power of two processors wherever you go. Now it's a breeze to render complex 3D models, enjoy smooth playback of 1080p HD video, or host a four-way videoconference.

If you need to present to a group, or you'd like to just watch MacBook Pro from across your hotel room, you've got everything you need. With the Front Row interface and Apple Remote, you're free to sit or stand across the room and present photos, movies and music at the click of your remote.

A full-scale iSight camera built at the top of the MacBook Pro's display means you're ready for video conferencing via iChat wherever you are - no cords or cameras to plug in or carry around.

Mobile users will love the new MagSafe Power Adapter featuring a magnetic DC plug that both ensures a tight connection and enables a clean break from the power port when there is undue tension. It prevents the MacBook Pro from being pulled off of a desk when the cord is accidentally tripped over, and it protects the power cord from wear and tear.
