As fond as I was of my old Toshiba, once I'd experienced the ease of using a Macbook Pro, I was hooked. First off, the design of the thing gets you hooked. It's so sleek and elegant - there's nothing cheap about it. The aluminium cover, rounded edges, integrated speakers and hard-wearing sliver plastic keys all carry the hallmark of Apple's devotion to quality design without compromise. The light-sensitive key-pad, which lights up automatically in dimly lit conditions is a neat touch! The 17'' screen is great for watching DVD's, streaming video and editing photos. If you can stretch to it, definitely go for the larger screen. The slim-line design doesn't make the larger screen models feel bulky and uncomfortable to carry around.

Once you've switched it on (and it starts with minimum fuss, unlike waiting for Windows to boot up) it's so easy to navigate. Even as a Window's user I found OS X 10.5 quite straight-forward. I'm a big fan of the little things which make day-to-day stuff easier - iCal, Stickies, Address book, the built in camera. I've been impressed with how intuitive I've found the system - and by how well the 2.5GHz Processor can handle multiple apps. It's a joy to use - especially after a PC!

Summary: A laptop which actually does everything you want it to - and looks pretty good too.
