've had my macbook for almost 6 months now and i love it. Mine is the white, core duo 60GB model (the cheapest one). This is my first mac after using windows os for years and although i still use windows pc's and laptops for work if i had the choice id use a mac all the time.

The first thing you notice about the macbook is how good it looks its sleek, slim, stylish and lightweight, the glowing apple logo on the back looks really cool.

Its really fast and has never really crashed in my 6 months of almost constant use. The changeover from windows was no hassle at all as macs recognise all windows file types.

The battery is great and compared to other laptops ive used lasts for ages. The 'MagSafe' power connector is a really good idea and has saved me from a few near misses, the power cable connects magnetically to the computer so if its pulled on, or tripped over, it just comes out and doesn't send the laptop flying.

The built in iSight camera is really cool, a lot of people are impressed with this, and its a pretty decent camera as well good quality photos and there's some cool effects you can use in photo booth. The down side of this is that there seems to be no MSN IM software that supports this as a webcam, ive tried and tried but to no avail.

The bundled software is great, Mail, Itunes(obviously), Pages, Iwork all work perfectly and there quite fun to use, it seems the emphasis on macs is to be fun, rather than the dull windows databases and spreadsheets (see the apple tv ads).

What can go wrong?

Discolouration
Unfortunatley i had this problem after having my macbook for 3 weeks, the wrist-rest area, the trackpad, and the mouse button was turning a dull grey/brown colour. When i called apple the guy didn't seem to know what i was talking about and asked me if i had tried cleaning it (well duhhh) after forcing him to go onto apples website where the problem was in the macbook FAQ's he arranged for it to be picked up and i got it back about a week later. They had replaced all the top casing and since then its been fine :o).

Unfortunatley after having it back for two days I tried to turn it on and it wouldnt, nothing happened, just black, so i called apple again spent about 10 minutes trying different things to get it on, but nothing. It turns out that the engineers who replaced the casing had messed up my hard drive and i had to send it away again to be replaced. After making a bit of a fuss about not being able to be without it again for a week due to their incompetance, i got it back this time, in three days.

Other Problems
It does get hot, its not unbareable and in these cold winter months its quite nice actually. Apple issued a firmware update a couple of months back that changed the behaviour of the fans and now its no-where near as hot as it was, and its just the same as any other laptop ive used.

The good thing about apple is they do act recognise problems and act on them pretty quickly. This i think is a great advantage over windows pc's and its only possible because apple make the hardware and operating system.

So I've actually written more about the bad things, but overall i love my Macbook, despite a few teething problems in the first month or so its been great and i would definatley reccomend it to anyone looking for a new laptop.
