Advantages: Great size for cases & bags, looks good, good performance, nice screen
Disadvantages: Single button mouse (annoying since leopard supports 2 button mouse operation)
I have owned one of these little laptops for about 2 years now and I can honestly say I'm a mac convert. Quick to load, not problems to-date with viruses or spyware and a surprisingly good range of software makes this laptop a real winner.
I have to admit that I use the bootcamp option with the Leopard operating system (which was a upgrade from Tiger), so that I can run windows which I need for work.
However, this all works well and I use Leopard for all home PC tasks such as storing music, editing photos, updating my website etc.
The bundled software is excellent. Not a great fan of Apple's iwork programs but Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac is excellent and means I can do odd bits of work while at home while running Leopard. On a side note, I would also recommend Freeway 5 from softpress (www.softpress.co.uk) as an excellent WYSIWYG website creator - this has been one of my most-used programs on the Macbook and has been incredibly useful for creating three small business websites for my company.
The battery has now started to lose power - when I first got the laptop I was getting 4 hours use, but now I barely manage 2.5 hours from a single charge. However, this is probably just a reflection on how well the product has been used, rather than any problem to complain about. I'm sure it will also be easily fixed with a replacement battery unit.
In summary, a fantastic bit of kit. It's been around in its current guise for quite a while now though, so if you're considering a purchase, might be worth keeping an eye on the press to see whether a new case design is expected anytime soon.
Summary: A great piece of kit
