Advantages: Portable, Convienient, Reliable
Disadvantages: Not a large memory, but large enough for most people, out of date very quickly
Ok well...I own a powerbook g3 series. By today's standards its slow and out of date (well that's what the titanium owners would say!). My particular model has a 233mhz processor...and a 128 memory.. I just wanted to put my opinion forward that just because the critics always say bigger and faster is better...there really isn't that much difference! Until last year I was studying for a moving image course involving animation and film. I did end up buying a G4 mac last year because I knew it would handle video footage a lot better..but until that point my laptop was perfectly fine and still is!...I got the memory upgraded to the max (192) and got a usb pc card so I could use a printer. I've got an Epsom 1200 and it works fine. I think i have mac os 8.6 still... But it had everything that I'd ever need as a graphic designer. All the programmes such as Quark, photoshop and illustrator worked fine and until I started doing animations, I didn't even back anything up (i know..very very bad!)After effects also ran well and rendering time was no better than it is on my G4....the difference goes unnoticed! I'm not a computer expert, I'll put my hand up to that, but I dislike the way in which you are made to feel like you have to shell out for the biggest and bestest!...You can pick up these laptops for about £600 or less if you're lucky on places such as ebay..or look in your local paper! thanks for reading!
