Apple PowerBook G4 M8859B/AWith a PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine running at up to 1GHz - and 1MB of L3 cache for an extra performance boost - the PowerBook G4 is a truly powerful and portable computer. For superior performance in graphic design work, DVD movie playback, and 3D gaming, the PowerBook G4 features the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics processor with up to 64MB of DDR SDRAM. Complementing this performance platform is Mac OS X - a supermodern operating system that combines the power and stability of UNIX with the elegance of Macintosh. Such incredible power deserves equally impressive display capabilities. The PowerBook G4 features a 15.2-inch mega-wide screen with 1280-by-854-pixel resolution, which gives you the largest workspace, best color saturation, and widest viewing angle ever in a PowerBook. Compared with 15-inch XGA screens, you get 39 percent more workspace. If you need to increase your workspace even more or deliver a presentation, the PowerBook G4 features DVI, VGA, S-video, and composite output options for connectivity to flat-panel displays, CRTs, TVs, and projectors. And for the first time ever, you can have the ultimate pure digital experience and even more workspace by connecting your PowerBook to an Apple flat-panel display. When it comes to networking, the PowerBook G4 has you covered. With an AirPort Card, you're ready to connect to a wireless network at work, at home, or in a cafe. If you're looking for a high-speed connection via Ethernet, DSL, or cable modem, just plug into the Gigabit Ethernet port. Of course, there's a built-in 56K modem as well. You can also use Bluetooth wireless technology to link Bluetooth-enabled PDAs, cell phones, and other peripherals to your PowerBook G4. The PowerBook G4 provides multiple ways for you to express your creativity. With the slotloading Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) or SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW), you can burn CDs, burn DVDs, watch DVD movies, or listen to music CDs. FireWire, USB, and audio ports provide connectivity to devices like iPod, DV cameras, and external microphones to help you make movies, download digital photos, or even compose your own music. Apple PowerBook G3

The G3 PowerBook is a great laptop machine. It's a little bit weighty, but I think the hassle of lugging it around is far outweighed by the joy of using it. As a Macophile I can never sing the praises of Mac OS enough, I find it so much more intuitive than Windows as an operating system, and as a consequence the powerbook is very easy to operate. It's got bags of RAM, decent clock speed - especially if you go after the 400 version - and is easily maintained and upgradeable. The pop out compartments for battery, CD drive, DVD etc, make specing the machine to ones personal taste a doddle. The battery has loads of hours in it, particularly with the economy ...

so that you are able to plug in a digital camera/video camera and directly download the data on to it. Probably the thing that I like best about this PowerBook is that when it is open, it looks just as neat and stylish as when it is shut. It also for some reason looks small when it is open? I think this is due to the widescreen LCD instead of a normal LCD. It also comes with a very fast ethernet port so it can be networked easily and instantly unlike its PC rival computers which all need network cards installing for extra cash, which is very bad. The computer itself is blisteringly fast and can perform complex tasks in a matter of seconds. It can also play the best ...

Apple Powerbook G4 (740 words)by - written on 24/05/01

its not over sensitive like on some notebooks. The G4 fits very easily into almost any rucksack or briefcase, leaving considerable room to spare. Curiously, Apple claims the G4 PowerBook is almost a kilo lighter than the previous G3 PowerBook which was also a kilo lighter than its predecessor. The locking and release mechanism on the G4 is ingenious. A tiny magnet pulls down a hook, securing the lid when its closed. You'll find yourself closing the lid as much as you can without actually shutting it just to see the little hook as it is pulled down, rather like trying to see if the fridge light ever goes off. It should be quite interesting to see how this kind of ...
