Apple PowerBook G4 M9110B/AFor example, after you're finished admiring their stunning displays and marveling at their fit and finish, take a good look at the number of ports each provides. That's when the realization hits you: not only are these models super slim and ultra light, but they also ship with an astonishing lineup of built-in professional capabilities. Therein lies the vast difference between the PowerBook G4 and its PC counterparts: Unlike some PC manufacturers who ship lightweight PC notebooks that shed pounds by shedding functionality (even to the point of shipping notebooks without so much as an optical drive), Apple maintains a thin and light design while adding more functionality. And check out the strategically located ports: all the PowerBook G4 models feature FireWire 400 and USB 2.0, with an additional FireWire 800 port on the 17-inch models. Need video out capabilities so you can connect to an external display or projector? The DVI port on the 17-inch models lets you do just that. More Apple laptops

Apple PowerBook G3

I've owned a PowerBook G3 since it came out; I've got the old fat one. I use a wide variety of computers; PCs, Macs, Desktops, Laptops and this is the best machine I've ever used (although it's a bit slow compared to the new ones). I run Linux on mine, so don't think I'm just a Mac evangelist, and it performs beautifully. The screen is still the best I've seen on a laptop - it's twice as bright as my (much newer) IBM ThinkPad. (so why did I buy the ThinkPad? I wanted a *tiny* laptop for travel) All the hardware is supported fine under Linux, from the PCMCIA slots to the built in modem to the SCSI port (NB you don't get SCSI on the new ...

I have owned a G3 PowerBook for about a year and a half and can find little to fault on this machine. It packs a lot of power into a slim design much better than the Windows stuff that I see other commuters on my train using. The design is also miles ahead of the competition. It has a sexy waist that you grip it by and that glowing apple, that is just such a brilliant feature. This is both a workhorse and an attention grabber. DVD watching while commuting never fails to impress the other passengers who sit back in awe as you watch Fight Club for the 33rd time on the 07.32 to Liverpool Street. It is a fast machine. My 400 MHz laptop performs certain processor ...

subnote are inferior to laptops in order to gain in areas such as weight and size. However, Apple has now bucked the trend. The Apple PowerBook G4 Titanium, announced at Macworld San Francisco in January 2001 is an amazing feat of engineering. NOT ONLY is it slimmer and lighter than at least the SONY VIAO, which is the best selling sub-ote on the market by the way, BUT IT ALSO has the power, capability and resources of a laptop, but with a screen size about 50% larger than the SONY VIAO. From Apple's Web Site: "Just 1 inch thick and weighing a mere 5.3 pounds, the PowerBook G4 is a heavyweight in an ultralight body - the world?s first notebook ...
