I acquired this Laptop from a friend who was upgrading. I wanted to try using a mac before I made the investment of buying a new one. This laptop is more than 4years old (i m not sure exactly) but it still manages to keep up with everything that I need to use it for in 2009. Things it can deal with fine: Skype (but no webcam so must be bought separately) Web browsing Google sketchup (basic engineering / design software) Logic Pro 7 (crashes very occasionally) Microsoft office for mac (slightly slow to load up but works fine when open) I Tunes (slow connecting to itunes store) The other great thing about this mac is it doesn t seem to develop fundamental software ...

so that you are able to plug in a digital camera/video camera and directly download the data on to it. Probably the thing that I like best about this PowerBook is that when it is open, it looks just as neat and stylish as when it is shut. It also for some reason looks small when it is open? I think this is due to the widescreen LCD instead of a normal LCD. It also comes with a very fast ethernet port so it can be networked easily and instantly unlike its PC rival computers which all need network cards installing for extra cash, which is very bad. its not over sensitive like on some notebooks. The G4 fits very easily into almost any rucksack or briefcase, leaving considerable room to spare. Curiously, Apple claims the G4 PowerBook is almost a kilo lighter than the previous G3 PowerBook which was also a kilo lighter than its predecessor. The locking and release mechanism on the G4 is ingenious. A tiny magnet pulls down a hook, securing the lid when its closed. You'll find yourself closing the lid as much as you can without actually shutting it just to see the little hook as it is pulled down, rather like trying to see if the fridge light ever goes off.
