Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-155 ... laptop is set at an amazing price!it is a great entry laptop for anyone. the hard drive is a decent size however, if you are the type that downloads movies you might want to get your self an external hard drive. the 1GB of ram is standard there s days an is ok however if running vista it can make multi tasking a little harsh on the speed. this laptop has 2 RAM slots allowing it to be upgraded to 2GB, however the current ram cards are 2x 512Mb cards meaning that you will have to get rid of them an replace them with 2x1GB cards if i wish to upgrade that much, it is still possible to upgrade to 1.5GB, however it still wont provide the performance you would be looking at... Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 ... bought this laptop several years ago, with windows 98 se. It can only be recommended for web surfing and word processing really, as with a Celeron 600mhz processor it is sometimes painfully slow. I tried putting windows xp on it, and although the specs seem up to it, in truth it is unbearable slow and took approx 6 mins to boot up from a fresh xp installation! I left xp on for a couple of weeks, before downgrading to windows 2000, which runs ok and is a better os than 98. The laptop is quite slow, but can be used to play music and simple games. I only have the model with the cd drive, but I tried to connect a dvd drive via usb and play a dvd, but it was really jerky...
