Toshiba Satellite 4090XCDT ... installed linux on this laptop, so I am just writing a review to say that it works well - if you're interested in using linux, it's easy to install on a desktop but on a laptop it's good to know in advance if it's worked before. I used Xandros Linux. A little slow, though. The laptop has also had Windows 98 and Windows 2000 on it. It's worked well with both. But on Windows 2000, using a program like Dreamweaver or Flash is overstretching it - I found it got slow, and that is despite installing more RAM, 128 MB. The knob in the centre of the keyboard works, but is a lot slower to use than a mouse, so just pop an ordinary mouse in the side... Read the full review: Linux on 4090XCDT by elviscocacola |

Toshiba Satellite 35DVD ... yet another new Laptop by Toshiba! The Toshiba Satellite 35DVD This new laptop has the power though! With a 500MHz processor and 128MB, a 10GB HDD, and a 12.1" (1024x768) screen even comes with Windows ME, You can even watch Dvds with the internal DVD-ROM!! But as laptops are mostly for business men and university students i wouldnt really recommend this one to a home user! If your a home owner and dont have a PC or laptop and are thinking of buying one or the other! Stick with the PC! I bought this same product 3 weeks ago! i find it pretty good! but I only bought it for travelling and moving around the house! A laptop isnt really built for games ... Compaq Armada V300 ... economic buy; my one cost me just £375 with a PCMCIA network card thrown in for free. 375 quid could buy you a fairly nippy desktop PC, so I'm sure you'll be interested in knowing the specification of this laptop. The main factor that determines the speed of a PC in everyday use is the processor. The V300 comes with an Intel Celeron 466Mhz CPU which whilst not top of the range offers a good compromise between price, battery life and performance. The main weakness in the specification of the V300 is the somewhat measly 32Mb RAM which is only just enough to scrape by with.
