the bedroom or on the sofa, I reach for the laptop. It's probably a good thing I don't actually own this Compaq , as I may well have thrown it out the window by now. This is *not* the computer's fault, it generally behaves very well and although it's really to hefty to carry for long, I have found it very useful. No, the blame is fairly and squarely at the feet of the *moron* who thought that a hair's breadth was just the perfect depth to put the modem cable into. The cable's plug is very fragile looking (indeed, this one has a 'prong' snapped off...not surprising when you consider they look like flimsy plastic fairy ...

that I should really invest in a laptop just incase my PC fails completely. I admit that I really have not much idea about laptops. IBM, Toshiba, Compaq seemed to be the big players in laptops so I thought the only way I can pick one is to visit this website and check out Ebay to see what the prices are for certain machines. After alot of searching and weighing up the odds I found this machine on Ebay for £350. Although secondhand this machine feels and looks brand new. I have MS XP with a 15inch monitor, P2 - 400mhz with a 320mb of ram, 5.5gb hard drive. The ram has been updated as I believe its alot lower than that. But anyway...as I have never had a laptop then ...

I had an upgrade in work to the Compaq Armada E500 and I was really looking forward to its arrival as the Compaq has quite a good name. The first thing that struck me was how slim the notebook is at only 1.6 inches thick. The only thing then is that you think its light but at 5.7 pounds you know you have it in your hands. With a 15 inch screen I thought it would be a strain on the eyes but no its quite adequate and the resolution is great given by a AGP 2X graphics with 8 Mb Sdram. When fully charged the battery life is three and a half hours, which is, more than long enough for meetings etc. Although the notebook has 128mb of ram I find it very slow in booting ...
