which has accompanied me through quite a few airports and offices and has faired pretty well considering. The first thing I WILL say though is visit the Compaq website to get all the latest updates (rompaqs) as I had LOADS of issues getting it to work with the factory modem under windows2000 server, network connections, etc. Anyway, just to recap on the spec for my machine PIII 850 Mini PCI 56K V.90 modem and 10/100 NIC combo 128MB SDRAM ATI Mobility Pro graphics and 8MB SDRAM 8x DVD Drive Floppy drive via the parallel port Weighs in at around 5lbs There are more options available for this model (e.g. 1ghz cpu, but the 850 does fine for me). that I should really invest in a laptop just incase my PC fails completely. I admit that I really have not much idea about laptops. IBM, Toshiba, Compaq seemed to be the big players in laptops so I thought the only way I can pick one is to visit this website and check out Ebay to see what the prices are for certain machines. But anyway...as I have never had a laptop then ...

I had an upgrade in work to the C Compaq Armada E500 and I was really looking forward to its arrival as the Compaq has quite a good name. The first thing that struck me was how slim the notebook is at only 1.6 inches thick. The only thing then is that you think its light but at 5.7 pounds you know you have it in your hands. With a 15 inch screen I thought it would be a strain on the eyes but no its quite adequate and the resolution is great given by a AGP 2X graphics with 8 Mb Sdram. When fully charged the battery life is three and a half hours, which is, more than long enough for meetings etc. Although the notebook has 128mb of ram I find it very slow in booting ...
