This is a brilliant little laptop. I have never had any bother with it at all, absolutely none what so ever. I would highly reccommend it even though it is now a little old. The only annoying things about it are the fact it only has 1gb of ram in it as the laptop can be quite slow at times however i added some more to mine. It is so comfortable to use and i hate other laptops, the mouse pad is brilliant compared to most i have tried. If you could get this laptop cheap then i would reccommend it, but even better any compaq is brilliant to use, they are build very sturfy and none of the bits have fell of mine unlike my boyfriends acer. He had the option of getting the same laptop as this when buying but he chose acer and regrets it to this day as the keyboard is weak and bits are faling off everywhere.
When it comes to laptops and technology in general I pretty much know nothing. I had a fantastic laptop, bought me by my Step father that was worth hundreds, lost my temper and smashed it up leaving me with no laptop at all and I was lost.
I needed a laptop fast, before I lost my mind and did a little research but got fed up and didn't really no anything about what I needed and in the end I spotted this one on Amazon.co.uk new for £224.00 and felt that as long as it looked ok, had a nice screen and a disc drive it would be fine for me, after all I only use my laptop to write reviews, facebook and use msn as well as to catch up on the news and bits and pieces really!

My Impression Of The Laptop:
I have had this laptop now 18 months and used it every day for hours and hours usually. First off it looks nice, though isn't all singing and dancing just pretty basic really though nice enough. The lid is shiny and black with a large silver C visible letting is know that it is Compaq of course and then the keyboard is black with white lettering on it and to the bottom of the keyboard it is silver and has an integrated mouse pad. You get of course the ordinary keyboard and to the side of that a numerical pad, basically everything you could need and the speaker is integrated to the top of the keypad and all the way along, making it a large speaker.
It is supplied with a large battery pack with a nice long cable on it. The screen is a really nice large size, colours are great and the operating system I am on is Vista which I like. When I got my laptop I had some free Norton on it to activate but like all computers you do need to make sure you get anti virus protection.
There is also a web cam neatly integrated above the screen already set up for use. Personally I am not 100% thrilled about that because I have to get posistioned right however it is good quality and great for using on msn and skype and the likes and there is a headphone socket on this too.
I find that I have enough memory on this for me and my needs though you can add memory if you want to and make it up to your specification if you so desire. Battery life though is giving up the ghost on me. When I first had the laptop I could charge it and get well over an hour from it without it being plugged in however now...I'm lucky with a full charge to get an hour!
I find this a speedy to use laptop, like the keys and the mouse and often listed to music, watch dvs on it and upload and download photos on it with ease. Of course it comes with Windows Media Player and all the things you need to get you started and you can delete the games and things that come with the system too if you want too.
All In All:
Ive had a few laptops and this for me is the simplest and most easy to use as its rather basic. Its reliable, sturdy though a bit heavy and the base gets ever so hot and I even have a burn mark bad on my leg from this! The sound quality is good but not what I think of as loud, even on the highest possible volume so I prefer to use headphones with this for that reason but all in all this is a good value laptop. It looks nice, you can upgrade it if you need to, its nice for playing games on and I've had no issues with it thus far thankfully really that I can really moan about!
Available new and used on Amazon and its about £140.00 to buy it there new now so it pays to shop about for this one if your interested!
I purchased this laptop as a cheap upgrade from an old desktop i had been using and i admit that, in the respect of a substitute, it has excelled itself. The display is large and widescreen enabling it for use in a variety of different applications from word processing to gaming to watching a DVD. The keyboard is also large and unrestricted like some laptops making it easy and comfortable to use for long periods of typing.
Despite the relatively small amount of memory (RAM) it manages to run multiple programmes with minimum impact to speed or quality of use. The processor speed is sufficient to keep the laptop running at an acceptable speed, only compromised when using high demand operations such as pc games. It has a large hard drive memory that is sufficient for storing a large library of music and film, i have not yet had any problems with a lack of space.
My one main complaint about the laptop is the battery life, after about a month of use i am extremely lucky to get more than an hour and a half of use. However since i use the laptop primarily at home this does not impact me too much. This combined with the size and weight of the laptop makes it not a very portable machine.

I had originally wanted a netbook but after seeing the prices I decided on a laptop. We already have a desktop computer so I didn't anything to expensive. For the spec needed this was the best value out there. It was very easy to set up and the screen is very clear. The only down side is the battery life but I know I wont be using away from home so will always have easy access to the power. If you want an entry level laptop this is the one for you.
This is a great machine if you're looking for a PC which isn't that mobile. The major shortcoming with this laptop is it's portability (or lack of). The battery lasts about 1hr, 50minutes, which is below industry standard. Apart from that, this is a great machine and a bargain at the spec it has. Great for someone looking for a cheap, high quality PC. Do think about what you'll be using the machine for before you buy it though, because if it's portability and mobility I would strongly suggest you choose another option.
