I purchased my Compaq Presario CQ61 over two years ago. It is a very solid and sturdy laptop, nothing has broken or fallen off. It has a full size keyboard which coupled with its 15.6 inch screen makes it very user friendly. Although it is a larger notebook than many others it still has a very sleek, attractive, glossy black finish. The touchpad (mouse) is a very good size and easy to use. I only use it for work and surfing the internet and the processing speed easily handles this. It is also very fast at loading up, much quicker than my desktop PC.
The main problem I have is the battery life. Very quickly its maximum battery life dropped and now it barely lasts an hour before I have to plug in the charger. It will charge up within an hour, which is fine when close to a socket, but very inconvenient in other situations. Also the screen is excellent quality when viewed from directly in front but move above or to the side and it is very difficult to view. Not an issue when working but awkward if you are watching a film with another person.
It comes with Windows 7 which I have found very easy to use, although I have always used Windows in the past. It is also compatible with wireless networks and comes with a built in webcam.
If you are looking for a very easy to use laptop at a good price then you won't go wrong with this one. Suitable for all ages and excellent for work or students.
This is a great laptop. Around the side is has 3 USB ports, a HDMI output, and a port for a Wired Connection. It runs Windows 7 and has great graphics and the sound quality is good. It looks quite good and is made to a great standard and quality. The webcam is good and the track pad works very well. It is very easy to use and it boots up and loads very quickly. It doesn't have a lot of RAM (2GB), and not a lot of Hard drive either (250GB). However, it is still very good for playing games and roaming the internet with its bright screen and great Wi-Fi. The battery life is good, lasting about 4 hours on a full charge.
Good Things - It is easy to move about and very user friendly. It is quite scratch resistant. It is quite cheap, although I wouldn't say it was great value for money. It has 3 USB ports and you can hook it up with a HD Ready TV very easily.
Bad Things - It doesn't provide lots of RAM or Hard drive.
Overall, I would recommend it for people who want a laptop just to go on the internet, and not who want to download games and save music and pictures.
I got this laptop after my Toshiba ones DVD drive stopped working. I was reluctant to pay the £20 extra at first but i didnt have a choice really. So, i got home and opened up the box and the first thing i noticed was the laptop is very beautiful in its design. When i turned it on, the initial setup was fast and easy. The 250gb hard drive is ideal for me because i use the laptop for college work, storing music, photos and movies. A couple of days after i bought the laptop, i decided to install a few games (Grand theft auto san andreas and rollercoaster tycoon 3). I thought the games would look average and be a little bit laggy but i was wrong, they both run perfectly well on the highest graphics settings available. Very happy with this laptop to say the least
The company named Compaq does not exist anymore since 2002, but the brand name does. The original company name is "Compaq Computer Cooperation". The company originally started as a computer manufacturer, located in the USA. But since 2002 the company was taken over by another famous computer company named Hewlett Packard (which you probably know from its LaserJet/inkjet printers and it computers.
Compaq was founded in 1982 by Ron Canio, Bill Murto and Jim Harris. The name of the company means "compatibility and quality". In 1983 Compaq launched the first portable computer, and this computer broke all selling records and became a major hit. During the nineties the company was the first one selling computers for less than 1000 dollars. Because of their lower prices a price-war started between Compaq and the other computer companies, IBM and Packard Bell.
Nowadays Compaq as a brand is still known for it reasonable priced products and their good quality. Compaq/Hewlett Packard also sell monitors, mini laptops and computer accessories.
**Compaq Presario CQ61 310 SA**
We bought this laptop through a Dutch online shop named Modern. Because we were looking for a nicely styled but affordable laptop we soon bumped into this Compaq CQ61. We paid 410 Euros for this laptop and I have to say that was a reasonable price for all this laptop has to offer. In Pounds you'll pay around 369 Pounds. On the International Compaq website there is a higher price displayed but I guess some looking around and comparing can save you a lot of money! Because I have bad vision I needed a big screen, and this laptop has a 15.6 inch screen which is big and perfect for me!

-resolution ; 1366 x 768 - I have to say, a very clear view and this resolution is good enough for me (and my bad eyes).

-pointing device; This laptop has a pointing device, which works well, it isn't too sensitive and you can adjust the sensitivity if you like (through your Windows 7 settings menu)
-keyboard; This laptop has a black keyboard with white letters/numbers printed on the keyboard buttons. I like the keyboard because it has big buttons that are easily used when typing.
-network interface; Integrated 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN

**Does it work fast enough?**
I hate it when my computer is slow. I don't have any patience. Luckily for me, this laptop is quicker than I thought it would be. It starts within 45 seconds, and when I shut it down that also only takes between 30-40 seconds. Reading a cd/dvd quickly as well. Speed is pretty nice I have to say!
**My overall opinion**
This laptop isn't too expensive and offers a wide range of possibilities. The 4 GB is more than enough disk space for me, but it is useful to know 4 extra GB can be added to the laptops system. I like the stylish look of this laptop. The combination of black/silver really makes it worth looking at. The lid closes smoothly and with a little click and is easy to open as well. The only disadvantage of this laptop is the fact that it is quite heavy. But well, not that big of a deal to me I guess (cause I do need a big screen, so I will always buy a heavier laptop). Great laptop for daily use, good graphic elements and cool design!
The Compaq CQ61 laptop is great for any first time laptop buyers
i luckily got mine free with a mobile broadband dongle so will just give my views on the laptop after using it for 2 months.
The specifications of this laptop are great maybe not so if you are a gamer as some games i have tried work but on minimal settings.
The hard drive is adequate for students giving you plenty of room for work.
This laptop is also great for teens and is child friendly as it has a user interface overlay called desktop wizard which is just like windows but is for children, has limited access to web, contains games, colouring activities and more.
The screen on the laptop is brilliant very clear crisp images and a nice size of 15.6 inches
I have never had issues with the wifi dropping out so this laptop can hold a good signal even in my neighbours home.
If you are looking for a semi-cheap laptop with great specifications and great functions then look no thurther as this is great for all round use. but as i say if you are a hardcore gamer this isn't for you.
This compaq machine is the perfect laptop for beginners and computer experts too, like most compaqs it is very easy to use and has enough power in its sempron processor to handle most applications. The main advantage of this machine is that it has the new Windows 7 operating system which has taken over Vista (thank god). Windows 7 makes the most of the computers ability by being much faster and more economical than its Vista brothers and sisters. Also Windows 7 is much easier to use and get to grips with. The ATI Radeon graphics are a good quality for a computer of this price and with the DVD drive and wireless built in it is a very tempting purchase. Personally i would go with one of the new AMD Vision processor ranges instead of the sempron, as this will give the whole experience of using a this laptop a lift. This is a great all in one laptop!
