This laptop I got as a replacement for my desktop PC which will I mourn after.
When I first got it and started it up, I got into some kind of automated installer wizard that guided me step by step through laptop setup and windows 7 installation. I like the simplicity and step by step guidance but it was very slow in installing the content and took me a day to complete.
When I finally entered windows for the first time, there was a lot of HP's software that I didn't really need and wasn't asked if I want to. There was even some annoying backup and antivirus software trial that would show pop up balloons in the taskbar every now and then.
Due to it's large 17" screen work on it is pretty pleasant but it isn't really portable because its big and heavy. I even had some trouble finding an appropriate rucksack in which I could fit it. Even though with it on my back I feel like I'm going mountain climbing. Like my other compaq laptop battery life is terrible and I'm starting to wonder if that is something that is brand-related or what. The screen on this laptop is just great and I can't find any flaws to it, except maybe the viewing angle could be better.
Over time, dust would build up in the cooling system and it would overheat. You also can't hold it in your lap even you're just surfing, because after few minutes it would start to overheat and whole laptop would stop responding on moments. I also had another bad experience with HDD in compaq laptops because it was noisy and sometimes I would hear noise like something snaps.
This laptop also lacks any serious power if you want to play some games on it. This laptop is not really that bad, but it has some serious flaws.
