Compaq Presario 1200 Series ... Compaq Preasario 1245 is now an old machine. I bought mine in late 1999. You'd be lucky to find one in the shops, but they are cropping up quite frequently on Ebay or second-hand. Hopefully you will learn from my mistake... I bought the Compaq Presario 1245 to replace my old laptop, which had been a shop-built number. To begin with, I was fairly impressed. The extra buttons below the touchpad (Easy Access Buttons, apparently) are of variable use. It's nice to have the external volume control so easy to get at, and the scrolling buttons are good too, although I had trouble getting them to work with some programs. Compaq Presario 1200 Series ... and Gentleman, FLAWS!! I bought one of these for a company rep, never again! Compaq have gone down hill ever since being bought over by HP (Hewlett Packard) in 2002. Their laptops have dropped dramatically, in technology spec. I own 2 companies, but before that I worked as a sales person in Dixons and when I heard we were getting Compaq laptops in I laughed. They look fantastic, but that?s it: There crap. Most these days are running on AMD or Athlon processors and lets face it there not the greatest thing since sliced bread. Compaq Presario 732US ... Have got Compaq involved and apparently this is a major design flaw as the bottom and top of the case are prone to breaking. Apparently the early models had this flaw and this has now been fixed. However I havent got one of the new ones yet and I'll pass judgement when I've seen it and used it for a while. Update 2: The unit was returned to me on the 7th Feb, it is now 26th March and there are already cracks appearing in the same place as before and as this has been replaced before we have been taking it easy with the machine.
