Compaq Presario 1200 Series ... running a series 1200 model 12XL505 running windows ME. I like the way the system is set up and I've not had any real problems in the 4 months I've owned it. I didn't care for the touch-pad built in as they are a bit sensitive and are not friendly to big fingers so I'm running an external optical mouse. The DVD played videos well on a 17" external monitor using the built in connection however TV/VCR RCA connections would have been a nice built in addition. The speakers are not the highest quality and are not recommended for music however voice and sound effects are acceptable. The weight of the system is good however it isn't light en... Compaq Presario 1200 Series ... Compaq 1200 series are amazing notebooks, Durable, powerful and economic, this laptop is well worth the Price. The speaker system is brilliant and produces a loud, crisp sound that only a Hi-Fi could beat, with a standard of 64mb it is a very powerful machine but I Would recomend upgrading it 128mb ram. The fact that it is celeron is dissapointing but it still performs very well. The 12.2 inch screen is very good quality and the 6x speed DVDrom is a very large advance on the previous laptops which were only 2x or 4x speed. Compaq Presario 1800 ... is an awesome computer. Perfect desktop replacment, dvd player, or now you can get dvd-cd/rw combo drive. Lots of space on the hard drive and decent ram(128mb) but if you are a devoted gamer i would suggest you upgarde to 256mb of ram. I like that it has a modem and ethernet ports. It could use a line in so you can rout in sound, and win ME could use a little work so it doesn't freeze. If I buy a new computer it will just be a newwer model of this.
