Advantages: Having internet wireless already on the laptop so you can go online immediately.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.
I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop and so far I prefer it to a desk computer. This is my first laptop that I have ever owned myself and I'm very pleased with it. The physical appearance is very clean and attractive.
Why It Is Better Than A Desktop Computer
A Laptop is easy to move about. You can have it anywhere in the house and you can take it out with you and use it wire free. You can plug it in when the battery is low so that it charges whilst you use it. You can easily connect it to a printer or a camera (some have integrated cameras installed).
The Look
The Dell laptop that I have bought is silver with a black keyboard. It is a new model. Midnight Blue, Jet Black, or Spring Green is the colours you can get it in now. You decide. With 8 optional colour backs to choose from - including 6 featuring a premium micro satin finish and you can have an integrated 2 megapixel webcam - your new Inspiron notebook is cool looking.
The keyboard is very nice and the keys feel responsive when used. When on full brightness colour is very vibrant and bright. The touchpad mouse click buttons have a "mushy" keyboard like feel when pressed which is nice. The actual touchpad itself is fairly large and has scroll edges that are nice to use with internet browser windows. The speaker quality is good except for bass response and actual placement of the speakers. They are located on the front beneath and to either side of the media keys.
What It Has To Offer
Whether you want to do your banking from a café or connect to the world from your favorite city park, the new 15.4" Inspiron allows you to get online virtually anytime and anywhere. My Dell Laptop has an integrated wireless card utility connection and with this you can connect to the internet without hooking up to a modem box, but only if you have internet broadband installed in your home to another computer. I can also connect to the internet using my laptop if I take it out where there is an internet connection. For example, I took it to a friends house where she had broadband and I automatically connected to the internet without having to plug any wires into my laptop.
It also runs on Vista windows and has Microsoft Works, Microsoft PowerPoint and Dell Wireless. The screen is 15 inches. It has four USB connections and CD rewriter dvd drive. The four USB ports are handy except I wish they were placed more evenly around the body.
Recommendation
I definitely would recommend buying a Dell laptop. They are a good buy and not too expensive.
