Good standard laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520)
Member Name: em1387
Advantages: easy to use, good battery life Disadvantages: bad customer service from dell I previously had a rather old Dell laptop which lasted about 4 years before giving up the ghost a year ago. My parents were kind enough to buy me a replacement for Christmas last year which was the 1520. I was very pleased with it, great size, great features (like the touchpad, built in wireless and music playing keys at the front). However after 2 months I needed a new hard drive and Dell's customer service wasn't that good when it came to that. However back to the laptop itself. It has a really good battery life (about 5 hours) which is handy when your not near a plug all the time! The keyboard is really well laid out and easy to use. I love the volume and music function keys on the front of the computer so you don't have to fuss around with secondary key functions like with earlier models. It has space for 4 USB ports, an ethernet port, and monitor adapter. The touchpad has scroll function on it, but mine doesn't work since the hard drive replacement, which was very useful when i had it. It is a little on the heavy side but not the heaviest laptop i've used before. Overall a very good model, you just have to put up with Dell's poor customer service when you need help. Summary: Good standard laptop
