Disadvantages: Nothing (but so all of you do know, the mous e is very sensitive; Very---sensitive

I bought my Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop shortly after it became available. When I first went to purchase it, I built it as a brand new one, and by the time I had built it, with it not even having a few of the accessories that i had wanted it to have, the cost of it was going to exceed $2,500.00. Adding the other accessories would have made it at about $2,800.00, with tax it would have been more. So I backed out of it and almost gave up on getting this one, although I wanted it badly. But just before I closed out Dell's website, I saw a Dell Outlet page offered. I clicked on that page, unchecked the scratch and dent option, and just looked for a 1520 on that page, not really thinking I would find any good deals. Well I saw one, and I read the specs of it, and would you believe that it had everything that I was wanting in my 1520? Even the other few accessories. The only exception was that it came with only a 1280x800 scree resolution. This was no big deal at all to me. The biggest deal to me then was making sure it had a dedicated graphics card, and it did. It came with the Nvidia 8600M 256 MB dedicated graphics. At the time, and really it still is, but this graphics card was the top-notch one. And it came wth the WI-FI 3945 wireless card inside, but I knew I could upgrade that card right away because I have a wireless n card for it at home here.
Anyway, looking at all the specs of it, I was afraid that it, too, even though it was in the Outlet Section of Dell, with all the high quality and top-of-the-line parts it had in it, was going to run me in the $2,000.00 range. So you can imagine the shock I felt when I looked at the price and the price was only $1150.00. I felt like there was something very wrong her, because it listed no scratches or dents or dings or malfunctions. So I called the Outlet Store and gave the rep the item number, and he patched me through to another rep. I told him my concerns, and which he said I had no worries. he told me that the customer had the laptop specifically built, but right after it was buit and ready to be shipped out, the customer had changed his mind and stated that the reaso0n was he decided on another laptop that he saw at another store and had bought that one because there was no waiting and he had grown tired of waiting for Dell. With that said, the rep said that the laptop I was considering wasn't even a refurbished one nor had it even been shipped out yet. And he said that for a pre-built one like this, Dell couldn't afford to mark the price of it up to what it's worth, and so they marked it right around half of its original price. The guy said that Dell really lost money on this laptop, because it was built with much higher-quality parts and components at the customer's request.

Anyway, I was extremely happy that, except for that one little minor formality I was basically getting my brand new $2800.00 laptop for not even half that. Now comes the good part!!

The laptop arrived in just a few days as the Outlet ones are already prebuilt, boxed, and ready to be purchased, or so I was told. I got this laptop in roughly July, 2007, and have had it ever since. When I got it, it came with a 160 Gb 5400 rpm hard drive, that wireless g card, ethernet, dvd burner, no mobile broadband card as was originally stated, Vista Home Premo, and 2 Gb DDR2 533 MHZ RAM. ohh, and the dedicated excellent nvidia graphics card. When I first got it, I took out the wireless a/b/g network card and installed my wireless n network card. I also ripped out the hard drive and installed a brand new 200 GB 7200 RPM hard drive that I had already got for a Xmas president. I also called Dell and complained that it didn't come with the Cingular/ Now AT&T internal wireless mobile broadband card nor was the Creative X-FI 5.1 expresscard sound card included with it. Dell had said that they didn't see those things on the packing list, but that they were more likely promotional included items, and those items are never listed on the purchase slip. They said no problem, and within the next 2 days I got both of them in the mail.

Now, almost two years later, here I am with this wonderful laptop. My incredible Dell Inspiron 1520 still looks as thought it is brand new, like it just came out of the box. And it works wonderfully, just the same if not even better, which it does, than it didn when i first got it. This laptop hasn't gotten old in the least, or over the hill. To me it's just broken in vey good. Ohh, I also replaced the RAM with brand new DDR2 667MHZ RAM, and that being 4 GB. My 1520 is just an excitement to even use. Everything, and I mean Everything, works extremely smooth on this laptop. But to me the main thing on this beauty is the display screen/ graphics card. I have never in my life seen or used a display as crisp, clear, and bright as this one. I don't know where the negative reviews about this laptop model are/ have ever come from, but its definitely not from me. Besides, in some of those negative reviews on this laptop, like I had read that this one guy had problems from day 1; his review said that the keys on keyboard started coming off. and also the displat screen just suddenly cracked. Well I am sure that any laptop would get ruined if you ran over yours with a car or banged yours with a hammer like he apparently did. I am just stating that I find it extremely impossible that this laptop brand is and has been such a negative and non-working version to some people. Bottom line, I love my Dell Inspiron 1520, and if you still can and find one somewhere or listed somewhere, I would highly recommend you make a smart buy, your smartest one, and buy yourself a Dell Inspiron 1520. You will not regret it if you do. I highly recommend this laptop to any and all persons, both business and home users. Ohh, one thing; because the laptop is not built with cheap parts and accessories, it might weigh a lttle bit more than others, but thats how I have always told that something was built solid and sturdy. Yeap, I definitely recommend this weighty sturdy, excellent and expressly built laptop. Thanks for reading, and I truly hope you get something out of this.--------------------------------------Brian
