Great all-rounder! (Dell Inspiron 1525)

Advantages: Fair price for what you get, easy to customise/upgrade

Disadvantages: Can get heavy if you're carrying it around for ages

After much consideration and thought over which laptop to buy within my price range, I settle for this one- the Dell Inspiron 1525. I have had it since last June/July (2008) and have found that overall it has perfomed well and just how I expected it to.

When fully charged my battery tends to last about 2 hours and a half. This is plenty of time to watch a movie on a boring flight/drive, and more. I haven't had any problems with battery life whatsoever, but then again I've never had a laptop before so I wouldn't know exactly what to expect.

I haven't had any problems with how fast everything works/loads, but then again I don't play games or anything energy-sucking!

The only problem I've had with it is when one day it just wouldn't turn on. Dell seemed quite helpful in the beginning- my boyfriend took my baby apart with the help of someone on the internet on his laptop, but nothing worked, so someone came to pick it up so that the Dell people could fix it. However, when I got it back, it turned on once and then died again! To this day I have no clue what they think they fixed. Luckily the second time I got it back everything was fine and I haven't had a problem since.

I have a webcam on my laptop which works fine for me. I haven't had any issues with it, but the microphone that is integrated sometimes gets some complaints from people I talk to online- they complain that the sound's not clear enough! Not sure whose fault that is but hey.

I find that the speakers sometimes don't go loud enough when playing a movie without headphones which is quite frustrating, but with music it's ok. I just need to buy some stand alone speakers and the problem will be solved!

Summary: Would reccomend!
