Advantages: Good Value For MOney
Disadvantages: Video Card
First let me introduce this review by saying that I have been an IT Consultant for more than 5 years of a mid sized company. So I have used laptops from just about every manufacturer that you will see in the Dooyoo community. So I always get a chance to evaluate the laptops for my company that I return after using it for a month or so.I evaluate laptop and Desktop computers with few different benchmarking utilities that test CPU,Disk and graphics speeds.
This laptop, though, I tested for work and myself .Out of most laptops I have tested in the past 5 years this one is one of the best performing laptops for the price, hands down.I tested and personally considered buying the best laptops out there from different companies like Toshiba,HP,Sony etc.Honestly the best performing laptops you can buy from those companies do perform little bit better than this eMachines Inspiration 1545.But you pay an extreme premium for that small edge of performance.
CPU:The laptop has Intel core 2 duo T5800 Processor. This laptop performs identical to N54504.In real world tests, there was no difference between the fastest N54504 and this one.Its worth nothing that the CPU is overclockable, which is unheard for a laptop. So I was able to overclock it to get the benchmark faster than any core 2 due out there.
Video:Inspiration uses the Intel GMA45 express chipset with 3GB DDR2 RAM,the real world performance is identical using Solidworks AutoCad,Photoshop etc.Gaming is also identical in real world performance, and this GMA45 chipset is generally what to look for in a laptop,if you care about video performance..the bottom line the video performance in the laptop rivals all but the Nvidia GE Force 7100+N force 630I.Also worth nothing on the video is that it is overclockable like the CPU for higher Performance.
Hard Disk:Mine came with 250 GB SATA Hard Disk which I think is standard in these laptops today. That's about the largest/fastest laptop drive that you can easily buy.The inspiration comes with a dual layer DVD super multi writer, which was fine for me as I have desktops with DVD burners and external firewire DVD burners. It comes with Dell wireless 1397 802.11 g Mini-card(most common WI-FI protocols)which has reception well above average than Sony,HP laptops.Using XP SP3 I have no probelms to connecting to linksys, Lucent and Apple wireless points -using Broadcom's wireless utility in windows XP SP3 is useless and waste resources. The Ethernet port is RJ 45 reader card which I had no problems with. The real world speed at 100 base -T is the fastest I've tested on any Desktop or laptop. The sound is good. The built-in speakers are decent sounding and loud. The battery is pretty average as compared to any other desktop replacement laptops.I was able to watch a 3 hr movie at my back yard and the battery still had close to 40%.Depending on usage you should get 3/5 hrs of battery life, but lets face it Desktop replacement laptops are not meant to be used like PDAs.
Summary: I think its the best as compared to others of its price range
