Advantages: webcam, great media playback
Disadvantages: batttery life not as good as other models
Well this was my first laptop i purchased ever. I decided on this as at the time of purchase it was on offer with around 60-100 quid off.
The best thing really with any Dell laptop, is that you can customize the laptop to whichever you feel suits your needs.
I personally chose a 320GB HD, and 2GB RAM. Now even with both of these this laptop was still a steal compared to other high-street retail prices for laptops made by sony/samsung/compaq and many other companies.
I also managed to get a good deal on a 1 year mcafee anti-virus kit for free.
Dell laptops are very top of the line, and always use new hardware/software with all their devices. However word of warning, they only have the good deals online, never ever get a Dell in-store as the stores will charge you like £100 more.
This laptop, best of all has a webcam, 2.0MP, and also has a DVD-RW, with an option to upgrade to a blu-ray player as well.
With the 17" screen, this laptop is definitely the best of teh dell line, regardless of the fact that it uses the lesser known AMD Athlon 64 X2 Mobile Technology, instead of intel tehcnology.
Battery life, for me is rather good, however if you plan on taking this laptop on long journey's, your better off buying a few more battery packs, as they only last around 3-4 hours on low useage.
Summary: great laptop for usage within the home, not for long journey's
