Advantages: Big 15" TFT screen, CD-RW, 20GB, I could go on forever, just read the review!
Disadvantages: No DVD :-(
I bought a Dell Inspiron 5000e 750 LT last week and it is truly amazing! I customized the statistics online, then ordered it. I got a Pentium 3 750Mhz processor, with Speedstep Technology. (Steepstep Technology is when it runs at 600MHz when you are using a battery so it doesn't use as much power, but you can put it back to 700MHz with the click of a button) I also got: -A 15' XGA (1024 x 768) TFT Colour screen -128 MB SDRAM Memory -A 20GB IDE Hard Drive. (It was 10GB but I paid £90 to get 20GB) -A 16MB ATI Mobility 3d Video Card (It was 8MB but I paid £20 more to get 16MB) -A Sony CD-RW (It had a DVD but I wanted a CD Writer instead so I paid £100 more) -Internal Floppy Drive -Internal 56k Modem -Microsoft Windows Millenium -Microsoft Works Suite 2000 -1 Year European Collect and Return Service For all of the above I paid £1529.00 exc VAT £1796.58 inc VAT This machine is quite heavy for a laptop. It is also quite big, but the screen is also big. It is 15 inches, which is about the same as a 17" monitor for a PC. (On a PC they include the the whole screen-the glass and the outside when they measure it) There is only one drive for the CD Witer, which isn't really a problem as it stores the CD in its hard drive then copies it onto a blank CD when you insert it. If you look around at oother laptops, you will find they are very expensive. I think this was a very goood buy for a laptop, but if you don't need a laptop, but you do need a new PC I suggest you buy the Fujitsu Siemens PC, which is £1100 inc. VAT and it has all the above plus a P3 1000MHz processor AND DVD!! Overall, buy this laptop if you are going to buy a laptop. It's the best buy around-I bought some PC magazines and looked on all the websites. I found a very good Tiny deal, but decided not to buy it because I know 2 people who have had a Tiny PC for less than 6 months and they have bo
th given them problems!

- 11/12/02 Hey, maybe you could update this op now you've had it a while. I would give you a better rating, but you can never give an honest evaluation when you've only just bought something - give it 6-12 months, then you're in a much better position to evaluate your purchase! |
