Advantages: 17" screen, Support from Dell, Number of USB ports

Disadvantages: Bulky & Heavy, Battery Life,

The company I currently work for has always used Dell as the supplier for all its IT needs, which is actually why i had always previously avoided using Dell for my personal equipment.

They were always saying that the Customer Service was pretty shoddy, which should have been enough for me - if they can't look after big business, they probably wont look after me.

The Dell inspiron caught my eye though, mainly because i really wanted a 17" screen to watch DVD's when i travelled arounf the country and i needed quick and easy access to wireless networks when on the road, or in hotels.

The speed has been more than adequate for my needs, and despite having mountains of videos/films/pictures saved i still have loads of space left.

My work requires quite a vast amount of software to be loaded onto my laptop - hence the space also required for pictures and videos. The speed has at times been an issue, with the system crashing every so often.

That said, i am often a little adventerous with the amount of programmes i have running at the same time.

Over time (i've had it for 3 years now) things have broken, i once dropped the power pack on the screen making a huge gash on the screen. Granted i had a NBD support but the replacement process, organising local tech assistance and sometimes just talking me through something on the phone has convinced me that Dell is a great company to have on your side.

One big complaint though is the battery life - useless! You will def. need to have a spare or two if you travel alot.

Summary: The Inspiron 9400 has been a fantastic work horse for me - Very good laptop
