It was OK when it worked (Dell Inspiron in general)

Advantages: Not a bad looking machine, for a 15" screen that is

We bought a Dell Inspiron 5160 through a deal at my father's workplace. For about the first couple of months it was fine, save for the odd freeze and squabble.

Now 2 years or so later, the fans run ALL the time, so that you can't even hear the tele over it. The laptop itself grows scarily hot, with software telling us it reaches 80'c within minutes of being on.

There is apparently a known fault on the 5160 range, with the fans and the heat, but Dell do not want to know.

Now, finally, it has given up the ghost and a 2 year old laptop that has some good specs and should be more than capable of being used is lying next to me completely dead, non responsive, and Dell want hundreds to look at the thing.

I'll be honest and say this makes me sure I'll never buy Dell again (I'm a Mac boy now, anyway!), but it is so disappointing to physically have a laptop in front of me yet it doesn't come out to say hello. Never again!
