Disadvantages: Battery Life, Cramped Trackpad
I'm currently writing this review from a Dell Inspiron Mini 10, and I have to say that I would easily purchase this netbook again! My thought of a netbook was a cramped, and overall, dissatisfying experience with a "sub-par laptop". However, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 offers a nicely spaced keyboard, and comes with Windows XP installed. The netbook is not weak, as it can easily deliver high quality streaming content, as well as run a majority of popular programs, such as Microsoft Office 2010, without any slowdowns or glitches. The processor behind the netbook (Atom), definitely packs a punch.
A netbook is definitely a buy for those who desire portability. There have been countless times that I have taken notes and work on major assignments in class, while my peers lugged around 17 inch laptops with their textbooks. The trackpad does take a little time to be adjusted to, but it is only a slight inconvenience. If there is an option for an OS, I highly recommend Windows XP, instead of Windows 7, because there may be performance issues with the other OS. I've only had several problems, but these occurred only about 2 years after purchasing my Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (had to replace power cord, and reformat OS once). Reformatting is built into the hard drive (recovery portion), so this is no big hassle for consumers who need to reformat.
Overall, a very good buy for those seeking portability, power, and convenience.
Summary: Power + Portability + Durability = One Well Designed Netbook
