Dell Inspiron Mini 10
Advantages: light weight and compact
Disadvantages: isn't powerful enough to run games and handle certain download and streaming speeds
I had this laptop for almost a year until recently as I was given it brand new until I could afford a better computer with a larger capacity, RAM and a larger size altogether. I found that this laptop can be pretty convenient if you're not wanting anything particularly heavy or want something light to watch things on whilst travelling or using it in wifi hot spots however I would not recommend using this laptop if you need plenty of storage and a fast computer. I generally use laptops for online streaming and downloading music and film and I often found that certain download speeds and on line streaming would cause the computer to run really slow as it isn't an extremely powerful computer, although I did usually find success in watching things on line but it did become a common occurrence for the computer to struggle running high quality and high speed actions.
It wouldn't suit your needs if you need a lot of software on it also due to the fact it is only a very small computer that is only suitable for basic use. Gaming is a no go as there is no graphics card and there is also no CD DVD rom drive. I have however been able to use programmes such as iTunes and windows media player providing that I was only able to store a certain amount of albums before the computer started to cry about it. The dell inspiron isn't a bad computer in itself as it is reliable and hasn't died or had any major issues in regards to hardware or how the computer runs, however it does all boil down to what exactly you plan on using it for. For instance, my mother now owns the laptop as she has arthritis and finds this small laptop much easier for her to use and doesn't cause her any pain or discomfort as most laptops are too heavy for her - she also only uses the laptop to go on social networking sites, emailing and using Microsoft office for her office work so in a nutshell if this is what you want then this will be ideal, anything more than that however it is advisable that you invest in something that has more power and more storage that will be able to handle it all.
Providing you have the laptop on a decent power setting (this is pretty easy to adjust on the control panel so don't worry, there are also shortcuts on the task bar at the bottom right of your screen) the battery lasts a good few hours and I found that I only had to plug it in during use when I was watching things on line - anything else should last a really long time: in my experience it's varied between 2 - 4 hours before a battery warning sign appears on screen - it's also good to know that the charger itself is pretty light weight and isn't a huge brick like apparatus which you sometimes find with the larger laptops - though in comparison to previous models i've owned the charger is somewhat shorter than the average one and can be awkward depending on how convenient you find things with having plenty of available sockets around the house.
In conclusion this laptop's capability goes with it's size; it's only small so be gentle with it as it won't cope with an over load of software and downloading only general daily use - A convenient little gadget to have!
Summary: Ideal for those who don't always use laptops but would like the convenience of one in the home
