Along with the constant switching of drives, I have experienced more hardware issues. The left mouse-key for my "eraser mouse" has completely busted out of its socket. I have read about another mouse problem in a different review. I'm not saying the computer is a really bad one, I just feel the hardware could of ...more

Premium Review Dell Latitude CPtS: Dell Engineers got his own desk (381 words)

Rating:

Over the last 3 years I have nursed a cycle of 1500 latitudes, from some of the oldest to some of the latest models. To be honest I am still not sure if they are a good buy. Speed and performance is as would be expected, and governed by what you put in it. If you buy the CPt then you must expect to see a few less go faster stripes compared with the CPI models mostly caused by the Celoron processor (well you get what you pay for. I could go into each feature, but feel it pointless as they have a good website and all the little bits (when working) perform well. From my experience the most important purchase with a dell laptop is the support ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review What the Dell... (124 words)

I have worked with Dell Pcs for a while now, usually, OptiPlex desktops and Latitude note books. Aswell as variuos other brands of notebooks. In comparison to other notebooks the Dells are cheap and effecient. But that is the only good thing in my opinion. THe main problems I have had is with the overall reliablity of the machine. In my experience there have been frequent harddisk failures, software and driver issues with the hardware involved. The case is weak and flimsy and the keyboard isnt much better. They only saving graces of this machine is the screen size and the touchpad. For the same price or a little more, it is worth checking out HP omnibooks and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dell Latitude CPtS: Dell Latitude CPt (102 words)

Well my company ordered me one of these a few months ago. I really have mixed feelings. On the plus side, a good large screen, nice to use mouse pad/buttons, and good spec. But on the minus, I've had the screen hinge come loose then crack, and lots of trouble with it shutting down. Also, the modem is a strange model in mine, and caused hassle with config (although these could be related to the software I've installed. My advice is to be sure you are happy with the spec before buying. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dellegy Written in a Country Churchyard (435 words)

I recently was bought a new laptop by my employer. Its a Dell Lattitude CPx750GT, together with a 17" flat panel monitor and a docking station. The CPU is 750MHz and theres 256Mb of RAM, so its reasonably quick and came with Windows 2000. I don't use it to play games, although I do thrash it a bit with computational stuff for my work. When it is being thrashed, Windows 2000 handles things a lot more gracefully than Windows 98. It came with a Xircom combo network and modem card. The modem on this was dead on arrival, so I've kept the modem card from my old PC. I have another big computer monitor on my desk, so originally I was just going to use the ...  Read the complete review

I was reading the past comments written by other members and I have never experienced any "on screen" problem that I haven't seen happen on any other computer. There have been some hardware issues that I would like to make clear. The constant switching is a pain in the butt. The dvd/cdrom and floppy drives have to share the same port. To use both at the same time, you have to plug a cord into the floppy drive and connect it to the back of your computer. I really must say, this is a really bad setup.
