Dell Vostro 1500

Rating:
latest power drivers from the Dell site, also failed to get this feature to function. Last but not least, about 2 months after I started using it, I started to see blue-screens! The frequency increased to about two a day until I finally decided to re-install the OS. It worked fine again for about a week, before the dreaded blue-screens started to re-appear, after which I traded in the machine for a HP. So over, all the experience I had with this machine was not very good. A buddy of mine recently got the newer Vostro (can t recall the model number) which is much smaller and sleeker. It s a lot like an IBM ThinkPad in appearance. I am yet to see how well it functions ...
Dell XPS M1330

Rating:
coating helps with the sharpness and it doesn t throw back too much light at you, so you don t get glare. Inside mine, I ve got an Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7250, with a clock speed of 2.00GHz and a 4MB L2 cache. I am delighted with speed; it s still quite slow to load up (but I think that is Windows Vista causing that) but it is superfast downloading stuff and flipping between windows etc. It is great for things like TV on the internet (but don t tell my boss that!) I think it s not ideal for games (apparently say the IT department - they have naturally given one configured more for work purposes. LOL!) In terms of network connectivity, 10/100 Ethernet is standard ...
Dell XPS M1330

Rating:
I received my Dell M1330 pretty much a year ago, and I have to say that it has not all been smooth sailing... It came nicely packaged, and I have to say that it is very quick - mine has the 2.2ghz processor and 2 gb of ram, and that s all I ve needed, even for gaming. Unfortunately, reliability has been a slight issue, with sound coming from the speakers often cracking up, the screen breaking two times etc. Dell have been very good with this and it s very easy to give them a call on their 24/7 XPS hotline. They come to my house to fix it, which is very useful and much easier than sending the laptop off to Dell, and usually the technicians are very nice. However, ...
